Joan's Gardens Challenge Week 7

A rainy day is always a good time to play!  This week the challenge at Joan's Gardens inspired me to use more of my new Unity KOM called "Let Love Grow".

The rules for this weeks challenge are:

Use and oval-  I used SB Floral Ovals
Use vellum- I used white which I toned down with Old Paper Distress Ink
Use polka Dots- I used Bo Bunny Double Dot collection

I stamped with Distress Inks, and the colors are Peeled Paint, Gathered Twigs, and Old Paper.
For embellishments, I used mini brads, hemp, and a small Avery shipping tag which I cut down.  My shammrock stamps are clear embossed on the vellum.

This was really fun!  Hope you are having a super weekend, and thanks for stopping by.

Friends with Flair

Welcome to my Friday offering for the Friends with Flair Link Up.  I like to have more than one card made during the week, but my computer let me down, the end of last week.  Things seem to be running, however there was an issue with leaving comments.  Sorry I did not get to do that last weekend.

Anyhow...... my card is using the February KOM, called Let Love Grow.  I am in need of some comfort cards for my stash.  This one was created using all scraps laying on my table.  The flowers, diamonds, and sentiment, are all from the kit.  I stamped everything using Raspberry Ripple ink from SU!.  I paper pieced a second set of the diamonds, and fussy cut a second flower spray, popping it over my first, slightly askew.  I added some twine and buttons, and I am pretty sure my DP is a very old Basic Grey design.

Thanks for stopping around, Please be sure to visit all the linked creations, for a chance to win a prize!

ODBD Challenge for OWH - February 2013 - Fruit

Good morning, fellow bloggers!  It's a chilly one here in PA.!  Brrrr!  Today I would like to share a card a created for the Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge, over at the Stars and Stamps Blog.  I happened to be one of the lucky winners from last months challenge.  Woo Hoo!

This month the theme is fruit.  I found this fun paper set that I have been hoarding from KI Memories, called Juicy Summer.  I found some digital subway art with all apple words, and I just ran with it.  One of my very favorite things in the kit, besides the striped paper, is this open work card stock with all of the apples.  I cut a strip and in the one stratigic apple, I used some Copic marker to outline, and then filled with Glossy Accents.  It made me think of those candy apples you get at a carnival!  I did some piercing, and added a few brads as accents.

Hope you are having a great start to your week.  I love when you drop by for a visit!

House Mouse #138

Over on the House Mouse and Friends Monday Blog, they have a challenge running right now, that is called I Love You "SEW" Much!  It is to include something to do with sewing, wether it be real or faux.

I added some zig zag stitching around my image to frame things out.  My HM image is one that a dear friend stamped for me.  It is called Helping Hand.  The sentiment is from Clear Dollar Stamps.  I sponged a cloud background and then added cloud die cuts from Memory Box.  Coloring was done with Copic markers and SU inks..  For embellishments, I used twine, mauve pearls, and some Diamond Stickles

Had a great weekend here.  Finally got to see my DD and her hubby.  My DS and his lovely wife even stopped on their way home from the Poconos.  Busy, busy, busy, with some frigid temps to boot.  Have an awesome week!

Another Friday.... Boy They Show Up Fast!

It's time for Friends with Flair, and here are a couple of cards I made this week with the new Unity Kit of the Month, called "Let Love Grow".  Every month I say "Oh, what a pretty kit", but this month is amazing!  Anyway on to my cards.

Card one is this pretty seed packet and sentiment.  I used papers from the Authentique Carefree Bundle.  Stamping was done with SU! Poppy Parade.  For embellishments, I used twine, Prima flowers, gems, and a large beige brad for the turned down corner.

My second card uses the haliquin stamp on my background, and the ink well and sentiment on my panel.  Papers are scraps, with inks being VersaMagic.  I also added Prima flowers, buttons, dotted ribbon, and a piece of die cut flourish from Cheery Lynn.

That's it for now.  We are expecting a couple more fast hitting snow storms over the weekend.  Brrrrr!  Everyone stay warm, and don't forget to check out all of the other creations linked up for Friends with Flair.  You could win a prize!

Simon Says Stamp - Have A Heart Challenge

Happy Sunday morning!  The sun is shining brightly and I can see the birds gobbling food at the feeder, as I sip my morning java.  Life is good!  The storm kind of fizzled on our end with just some ice and a layer of snow stuck on top of it.  It was however nasty in North NJ, which kept my DD from coming home to celebrate her birthday.  Her birthday has been like this since she was born.  It is a very active weather week.  I remember having to walk, on her second birthday, to the bakery, and bringing her sheet cake home on a sled!  Then there weren't many that showed for the party, so we ate cake forever.  Ahhh.... memories!

Today I would like to share a card that has a bit of heart.  It is simple in design, but oh so much fun to create.    There is also a little story that goes with this one.  The first time I took my DD to a stamp show, she was stuck in one booth for hours.  It was the Rubber Stamp Tapestry booth.  I swear she came home with a zillion sets that day!!  They are known for their peg stamps, and there is no real wrong way to play with them.   This set is called Pansy and Daisy Wreath SFL 34034.  I used assorted colors of VersaMagic inks, and just went to town.  My sentiment is an unknown.  I used a paper doily, and pearls as embellishments.

This is for the latest Simon Says Stamp Challenge, called "Have A Heart".  For some great inspiration, please check out all the fantastic heart creations that have linked up.  I have also been urged by my dear blogging friend, to link this up for the OWH, Stars and Stamps Sketch 159, for this week.  Okay, you don't have to twist my arm!   Bye for now.......

Friends with Flair Time

How did it get to be Friday again?  That means it is time to show our Unity creations.  You can win a super prize, by either commenting on a creation, or linking up something special you have to share.  Friends with Flair can be so inspiring.

Both of my cards use the August of 2011 KOM called What I Know.  Both are just note cards, and a bit eclectic. This is another great way to use up those scraps you have laying around.  Here is what I made.

Card one is made with oak tag that has been sponged with Old Paper Distress Ink.  The images were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink.  Touches of Copic marker were added to the butterfly.

My second card uses a TH Texture Fade for the trim, and it is sanded.  My striped paper is from K&Co.

That's it for today.  Still have not gotten the snow part of the storm, but they are saying when it starts it will be inches each hours.  Again, thanks for visiting, and stay safe, if you are facing Nor-Easter Nemo.

Might As Well Stamp!

The Nor-Easter is knocking on the door, no reason to go anywhere, so I might as well keep stamping.  For our friends to the north, please be safe.

My first card is for Joan's Gardens Challenge Week #5.  Here are the details for this weeks challenge.

Use blue, green, and white.  Check!
Use an oval.  Check, it's a SB!
Use a printed flower.  Mine has polka dots in blue from Prima!
Use a stamped sentiment.  Mine is from Clear Dollar Stamps

I also used my new Memory Box Resting Bird dies, with an Amuse Bare Branch with Leaves stamp.  One of my newest addictions is the Bo Bunny Double Dots paper. Eek, they make the cutest cards!  There are felt leaves and a pearl head brad as embellishments.

My second photo is of cards that I made for the Mid Week Throwdown over on the Stars and Stamps Blog.  This week they are requesting cards that our troops can send home to their children.  I used colored images from Dearie Dolls, that I sent into my print program so I could add sentiments.  My papers are also Bo Bunny Double Dots.  For embellishments I used bakers twine, buttons, and a little Glossy Accents.

Thanks for stopping bye, and I will be back a bit later with my Friends with Flair stampings for this week!

Welcome to the OWH Skip!

I was thrilled to be invited to participate in this special Operation Write Home Skip.  The theme of this skip is "Cards with Critters"!  Since it is also Groundhogs Day, what better critter to usher in an end to winter?  Fingers are crossed that he does not see his shadow.

     Here is what I used:

Digital image:  from MelonHeadz
Stamps: sentiment from The Cat's Pajamas, butterfly from Rubber Stampede
Punches and Dies:  SU!, Spellbinders, and Memory Box
Embellishments:  Glossy Accents, black pearls from Queen & Co., flowers from Prima
Card Stock and Papers:  Pure Luxury from Gina K. Designs, scraps from my stash
Ink:  from Versafine, Copic, VersaMagic

If you would like to see a few more critter cards that I posted yesterday, for the OWH Mid Week Throwdown,  please check out my last post, here!

If you would like to start from the beginning of this skip, please head over to the Stars and Stamps Blog.

Second Post Today!

I got on a roll this morning, making birthday cards for the Mid Week Throwdown, on the Stars and Stamps Blog.  I had some digi images printed that just needed to be used.

Card #1 uses an image from Whimsey and Stars, that I have had for ages.I colored him with Copics and added a computer generated sentiment, along with ric-rac, punched border from EKSuccess, and a large sticky back flat brad.

Card #2 has a digi birthday sentiment I found in my stash, paper from Basic Grey's Out of Print Collection, A butterfly created with a Cheery Lynn die, and an embossed border, which was letter pressed with Distress Inks.

Card #3 uses the cutest Inky Antics doggie (thanks, Janice).  He is colored with Copic markers, and the sentiment on his sign is stamped with a stamp from Clear Dollar Stamps.  Pearls, an MS butterfly, and a border with the MS Bangle Chain Trim.

So glad I got to share these with all of you.  Again, have a great weekend!

Friends with Flair and OWH Challenges

Happy Friday!  The weeks are really zooming by, and I can't decide if that is a good thing or bad.  I have a few things to share in this post, and I hope it does not get too confusing.  This weeks Friends with Flair linky seems to be working, so make the rounds and show a little love.  You may just win a prize!

My first card uses the adorable owl and sentiments from the January 2013, Unity KOM, and I decided to paper piece him.  He is following this weeks sketch for Operation Write Home, which is # 157.

Card two is a birthday card created from the KOM back in June of 2011.  I tried to use happy colors, and some more child friendly papers for this one.  I will also link this card to the Mid Week Throwdown over on the Stars and Stamps Blog, which is to create birthday cards.

Sorry for the short post.  Hope everyone had a great week, and I will scoot around for comments over the weekend!
